ESCAPE, 2022

Travelling by hitchhiking from Moscow to Lake Baikal, the artist documents the journey through Polaroid photographs. Along the way, she mails the images to France, where she was living at the time, allowing the journey to unfold simultaneously across two places. The photographs include the licence plates of cars she recorded for safety while hitchhiking, as well as self-portraits, portraits of friends and their homes, views from truck and car windows, the road, and the landscapes surrounding Lake Baikal.
